About the position
A large international engineering/ manufacturing /steel company requires the above to be responsible for managing and overseeing all product inventory, stock levels, and material flows to ensure on-time delivery and cost-effective logistics operations. The role focuses heavily on product and stock management, requiring close collaboration with production, procurement, warehousing, and sales teams to optimise inventory accuracy, minimise capital lock-up, and ensure high product availability for customers.
Minimum requirements for the role:
- Must be computer literate with Excel and Power point experience.
- Must be proficient in calculations of GP, Costs, Percentiles, exchange rates.
- A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or related field is preferred for the role.
- Previous experience having worked for an international company within a logistics, inventory, or product management role within the engineering or manufacturing or related environments is preferred.
- Proven experience managing large-scale inventory across multiple warehouses or branches is preferred.
- Familiarity working with inventory forecasting tools is essential.
- Must have a strong knowledge of inventory planning, product flows, and stock management best practices as well as excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in ERP and warehouse management systems, with advanced Excel reporting skills is preferred.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities as well as being able to communicate, negotiate with all levels of staff as well as stakeholders.
- Must have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven international manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Managing and overseeing all product inventory, stock levels, and material flows to ensure on-time delivery and cost-effective logistics operations. - Working closely with all staff within the company to expedite and procure overdue stock items internationally from suppliers to support project closures.
- Maintaining ISO compliance and addressing Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
- Managing and overseeing the company fleet to ensure operational efficiency at all times.
- Managing product flows from manufacturing facilities to distribution centres, warehouses, and customers.
- Coordinating with production and procurement teams to align stock levels with production schedules and customer demands.
- Monitoring and maintaining optimal stock levels to prevent overstocking, shortages, or obsolete inventory.
- Implementing effective stock rotation, replenishment, and product tracking procedures to ensure accuracy and product integrity.
- Expediting the movement of critical products, spare parts, and project-related stock to meet deadlines and minimise downtime.
- Managing product demand forecasts in collaboration with sales, operations, and procurement teams.
- Reporting on product availability, stock turnover, and capital lock-up to senior management and finance teams.
- Leading and mentoring the logistics and inventory control team to achieve performance targets and service excellence.
