Logistics Manager

About the position

Our client is one of South Africa's largest manufacturers of food packaging solutions. The Logistics Manager will be responsible for ensuring that goods are delivered to the correct location on time, communication and organisation of outsourced transport, cost effective management of fleet (trips, diesel, tracking, overtime) and accountable for accurate loading and delivery of all trips.
The position will report to the Financial Director

Qualifications/Attributes/Competencies and Experience:

• Matric
• A minimum of 4 years’ experience in logistics and fleet management
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel/Word)

Roles and Responsibilities

• Strategically plan and manage routes, transportation and customer service
• Oversee and monitor local fleet
• Keep track of delivery times, efficiency and transportation costs
• Resolve any arising problems and complaints and stock returns
• Liaise with customers, suppliers and transport companies
• Ensure you meet costs, accuracy and timeliness targets
• Allocate and manage the fleet staff and ensure all relevant documentation is updated
• Ensure maintenance of the fleet
• Interaction with distribution
• Housekeeping of the fleet, always clean and presentable
• Ensure compliance with transport laws and regulations
• Continually try to improve and develop business performance within the constraints of fuel cost, legislation and rising environmental pressures
• Monthly reporting
