About the position
Our client, a leading player in the logistics and supply chain industry, is seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to lead the end-to-end logistics function for a single depot operation. Responsible for all inbound and outbound logistics activities, the successful candidate will ensure the smooth and efficient running of the depot while maintaining high service and operational standards
The position is based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal
Minimum Requirements:
Qualification and Experience:
- Diploma or Degree in Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a warehousing and distribution environment as Logistics Manager, ideally involving the handling and transportation of temperature-sensitive products
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage end-to-end depot operations, including inbound, warehousing, and outbound logistics within a high-volume, temperature-controlled environment
- Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement of warehouse and transport processes, ensuring optimal efficiency, service levels, and cost control
- Oversee inventory accuracy, stock control, and distribution performance across the depot
- Manage fleet utilisation, routing, and distribution planning to ensure effective and cost-efficient delivery performance
- Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, regulatory, and operational standards, including risk and incident management
- Analyse operational data and performance metrics to drive informed decision-making and achieve KPI targets
- Manage maintenance planning and asset utilisation to ensure operational reliability and continuity
- Lead, develop, and motivate a multidisciplinary team, fostering a high-performance and accountable culture
- Oversee budgeting, cost control, and financial performance within the depot, including supplier and contract management
Knowledge and Competencies:
- Strong leadership capability with the ability to inspire teams, drive execution, and build a high-performance, customer-focused culture
- Solid understanding of supply chain, warehousing, and transport operations, including relevant legislation and compliance requirements
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g. SAP) and strong overall systems and MS Office proficiency
- Strong financial and operational acumen, including budgeting, cost control, and transport economics
- Highly analytical with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent planning, organisation, and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills across cross-functional teams
- Clear and confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels
- Resilient, adaptable, and proactive with strong attention to detail and a results-driven mindset
