Overview of position

Imports

• Oversee the end-to-end inbound supply chain, ensuring global goods arrive on time, within budget, and in full compliance with South African Revenue Service (SARS) and international trade laws.
• Manage customs clearances, coordinate with freight forwarders, and resolve logistics bottlenecks
• Navigating local regulations, ensuring accurate tariff classifications, and expediting shipments held by SARS stops.
• Partnering with international suppliers and freight forwarders to track shipments across air, sea, and road transport.
• Negotiating shipping rates, managing Incoterms, and continuously auditing the supply chain to minimize costs and transit times.
• Aligning procurement and sales demand to prevent inventory shortages.

Exports

• Oversee the end-to-end export supply chain. Optimize global shipping routes and select the most efficient transport modes (ocean freight, air freight, or cross-border road freight).
• Ensure that customers are kept informed of developments relating to their order to meet their requirements against promised delivery dates.
• Ensure absolute compliance with SARS customs regulations, rules of origin, and international trade agreements (e.g., SADC, AfCFTA, EU-SADC EPA).
• Oversee the accurate completion of customs declarations, EUR.1 certificates, and bills of lading.
• Negotiate SLA rates and service terms with freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs brokers, and transport providers to minimize landed costs..
• Monitor and mitigate risks related to international transit, demurrage, and port delays.
• Drive cost-saving initiatives.
• Work closely with Internal Sales, Production, and Finance teams to align shipping schedules with client expectations and payment terms (e.g., managing Letters of Credit).

Salary Bracket
R20 000 to R30 000 pm CTC, depending on experience, qualification(s) and current / previous package
