About the position

ENVIRONMENT:

PLAN and oversee the delivery routes as per the delivery schedules created as the next Logistics Administrator sought by a leading manufacturer of specialized polyethylene supplies. You will also obtain updated quotes from third party transport companies on a monthly basis, arrange for the picking, packing and preparation of stock for delivery as per the delivery schedules, ultimately ensuring the seamless delivery of all production against orders and required delivery dates. You must have proven work experience in a Logistics or Warehouse Administration role within a Manufacturing environment, solid knowledge of Warehouse Management, Inventory Control & Supply Chain principles. You will also need proficiency in Route Planning, Fleet Management, Vehicle Maintenance and knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.

DUTIES:

  • Plan, organize, and document delivery schedules in the most economical and efficient manner.
  • Coordinate delivery routes and ensure all dispatches align with production timelines and customer delivery dates.
  • Oversee the picking, packing, and preparation of stock for delivery.
  • Obtain updated quotes from third-party transport companies monthly or as required.
  • Arrange third-party courier and delivery services based on company needs.
  • Inspect outgoing stock to verify correctness, quality, and adherence to dispatch processes.
  • Operate and manage logistics-related vehicles and equipment (e.g., forklifts, stackers, delivery vehicles).
  • Lead and manage Logistics Department personnel including drivers, assistants, forklift operators, and storemen.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies related to safety, hygiene, uniforms, and recordkeeping.
  • Maintain accurate records using MS Excel, Word, Pastel Accounting, and email correspondence.
  • Monitor and report on fuel consumption, vehicle mileage, and service history.
  • Secure and manage the Company Petrol Card.
  • Handle receipt of incoming stock and customer returns, including fault analysis and documentation.
  • Conduct and oversee weekly/monthly stock takes of raw materials, finished goods, and WIP.
  • Ensure the safe and organized stacking and storage of materials.
  • Act as the BRC (British Retail Consortium) contingency for the Logistics Administrator role.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven experience in a Logistics or Warehouse Administration role within a Manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Warehouse Management, Inventory Control, and Supply Chain principles.
  • Proficiency in route planning, fleet management, and vehicle maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel), Pastel Accounting, and email systems.
  • Understanding of safety regulations, compliance standards, and South African road traffic laws.
  • Strong leadership and team coordination abilities.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Physical capability to operate vehicles and assist with hands-on Logistics tasks.

Preferred Qualifications -

  • Certification in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • Valid driver’s license and Forklift Operating Certificate.
