MANCOSA, a DHET registered and CHE accredited private higher education distance education provider, offering undergraduate and postgraduate business qualifications, has the following vacancy available: LMS Administrator.

Duties & Responsibilities

CORE PURPORSE:

  • The core purpose of this job is to provide technical support related to the learning management system (LMS) processes and procedures. The position will entail taking care of front-end maintenance on the LMS. In addition to the above, the position involves providing student support services in a relief capacity when necessary. This relief support will be conducted via telephonic, digital or any other means of communication required by the organization. Ensure that the department needs are met and in line with the organizational vision, mission and strategy.
CORE FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

LMS Administration

Content and Course Migration
  • Support the development and deployment of online courses and digital resources.
  • Assist faculty and instructional designers with course setup, multimedia integration, and instructional tools.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, accessibility standards, and copyright regulations.
  • Provide guidance and support to faculty in the effective use of the LMS for teaching and learning.
Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Generate reports on LMS usage, course activity, and student engagement to support academic planning and decision-making.
  • Analyse LMS data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Technical Support and Training

  • Provide support to faculty, students, and staff for LMS-related issues.
  • Develop and coordinate training sessions, workshops, and resources to help users maximize the LMS features.
  • Create and maintain user manuals, FAQs, and other documentation.
  • Develop and implement service level agreements for LMS support.

LMS Support

  • Assist with LMS readiness tasks, ensuring the platform is prepared for new programme/module launches and semester transitions.
  • Perform administrative tasks within the LMS, such as user management, structure creation, and appropriate uploads.
  • Monitor system performance and identify potential issues requiring investigation or intervention.
  • Stay updated on new LMS features and functionalities and implement them as directed.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Essential Qualification:

  • Certificate or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Education, or a related field

Essential Experience:

  • Proven experience administering and supporting an LMS (such as Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas, or similar platforms).
  • Experience in user management, course creation, and troubleshooting within an LMS environment.
  • Experience providing technical support and training to end-users (instructors, students, or staff).
Essential Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Behaviour
  • In-depth knowledge of LMS platforms, their features, and integration capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of e-learning standards (such as SCORM, xAPI) and digital content management.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting technical issues and performing system maintenance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for supporting and training users.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Commitment to maintaining data security, privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations.

General:
  • Willingness to work overtime when required
  • Must be capable of working with visual and auditory input.
