Live-In Pediatric Disability Carer - Durbanville

About the position

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Live-In Carer to provide full-time support to a disabled child in a wheelchair. This is a deeply rewarding role for someone with a nurturing spirit, strong attention to detail, and a passion for enhancing quality of life through daily care and therapeutic engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Personal Care & Hygiene: Assist with bathing, dressing, toileting, and grooming routines with dignity and sensitivity.
• Mobility Support: Safely assist with transfers, positioning, and movement throughout the home and during outings.
• Cleanliness & Environment: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized living space, including light housekeeping and laundry.
• Therapeutic Assistance: Support occupational therapy routines and exercises under guidance from healthcare professionals.
• Meal Preparation & Nutrition: Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as needed.
• Companionship & Engagement: Foster emotional well-being through conversation, play, and developmental activities.
• Medication & Health Monitoring: Administer prescribed medications and monitor health indicators, reporting concerns promptly.
• Record Keeping: Maintain daily logs of care routines, therapy progress, and any notable changes in health or behavior.

Requirements:

• Prior experience special needs child minding / caring for children with physical disabilities or special needs
• Training in caregiving, first aid, and CPR (or willingness to obtain)
• Fluent in Afrikaans
• Patient, reliable, and emotionally intelligent
• Physically fit and able to assist with lifting and mobility
• Comfortable working in a home-based environment with discretion and respect
