About the position

Postion Summary:
The National Research Foundation (NRF) seeks to make an appointment for the position of Liaison Officer who will report to the Science Education Manager: SAASTA, within Research, Innovation and Impact Support and Advancement (RIISA) at the business unit SAASTA. This is an Employment Equity position, and preferred candidates would be a male (African, Indian or Coloured).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaising with SE partners within the clustersAdministration of the database of partners and awareness initiatives for project implementationsAssist in coordination of implementation of projects plans across the clusters
  • Participate in clusters meetings, conferences, webinars and workshops
  • Provide support to clusters partnersWork on logistics of venues / platforms in the clustersMonitoring of the implementations within the clustersCollect and collate clusters data for uploading on the SEIMS system and reportingAssist the Cluster Coordinator in implementing plans for the project/sAssist the Cluster Coordinator in developing terms of reference for granting and procurementEvaluation of granting and procurement proposalsReconcile contractsProvide technical advice to the potential grant holdersAssist the Cluster Coordinator in development of project business plans and annual performance plansProvide input and information for quarterly reporting Provide technical advice to stakeholdersEngaging with internal and external stakeholders on matters of common interestContinuous monitoring of expenditure to avoid over- or under-expenditureAssist the Cluster Coordinator in compiling project budgetsCollect and distribute data on correct templates for SEIMS, monitoring, and reporting

Minimum Qualification:
  • Bachelors Degree / Advanced Diploma / NQF 7

Minimum Experience:
  • 3-6 years
  • Degree or equivalent (NQF Level 7) in STEM (Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Agricultural Science, Geography, Astronomy/Space Science, Data Science, and Software Engineering)
  • 3 years work experienceValid Driver's License

Experience:
  • 3 years' experience in science education sector, experience as a teacher or tutor will serve as an advantage
  • Experience in science education sector, experience as a teacher or tutor will serve as an advantage

Knowledge:
  • Education related policy documents such as CAPS; Green/White Papers; Frameworks and Concepts
  • Strategic planning and coordinationStakeholder and network managementResources managementKnowledge of monitoring and evaluation systems and tools
