About the position

Postion Summary:
The National Research Foundation (NRF) seeks to make an appointment for the position of Liaison Officer who will report to the Manager: Science Engagement (SE) Planning, Reporting, Monitoring and Evaluation, at the business unit SAASTA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing project plans in the SE department;Assist in the planning of Science Engagement forums and / or strategy planning process;Support the department in the development of the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) system in line needs of the project; Assist in the management and coordination of progress update of business performance information;Support and contribute in the design and management of constructive information feedback loops to inform project / programme design Assist in the coordination and application of monitoring tools to track program performance in line with the theory of change (TOC) the M&E Plan;Facilitate the analysis of real-time project / programme monitoring of data collected on a regular basis as required by the set time frames of systemCoordinate the submission of Portfolio of Evidence (PoE) and reports; Attend to PoE related queries from SE partners and other relevant stakeholders in a timely manner;Interaction with the SEIMS digital repository by uploading, retrieving and updating data;Retrieve analytics data related to the performance of the SE programme initiatives/interventions;Assist the department by providing secretariat support to both Peer and Accreditation Committee meetings;Facilitate the submission of accreditation reports to the Manager; andLiaise with the Science Centre community and provide the necessary support as and when required; and Monitor the functionality of the South African Network of Science Centres (SANSC) website/link for use by the SANSC community on an ongoing basisProvide administrative support external stakeholders who are part of the NRF network in collaboration with the sub-department staff to foster accreditation opportunities;Assist the Professional Officer O in compiling project budgets;

Minimum Qualification:
  • Bachelors Degree / Advanced Diploma / NQF 7

Minimum Experience:
  • 3-6 years
  • Advanced Diploma / Bachelors Degree (NQF Level 7) in Economics / Information Technology / Statistics / Information Management / Advanced Certificate in Monitoring & Evaluation
  • 3 years work experience
  • A valid driver's license

Experience:
  • Three (3) year work experience database management and/or administration, information technology management / Information management Systems/ Monitoring & Evaluation methods / project managementExperience in designing tools and strategies for data collection, analysis and production of reports

Knowledge:
  • Knowledge and understanding of data analyzing tools / instruments used in research studies
