Postion Summary:
The National Research Foundation (NRF) seeks to make an appointment for the position of Liaison Officer who will report to the Public Engagement Platforms Manager: SAASTA, within Research, Innovation and Impact Support and Advancement (RIISA) at the business unit, SAASTA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the coordination of Science Centre Network by;Supporting the coordination of the national science exhibitions Administering the identification of a scientific concept for an exhibit Administering the access of content specialists’ and process their involvement Support the overseeing of the idea development process Facilitate the fabrication and production (prototyping) phaseInvolved in the manufacturing the exhibit in its entirety Work with the content specialists in the sector in monitoring the production Support the overseeing of the installation of the final product Support the coordination of the travelling of the national exhibition Participate in the science engagement eventsAdministering the technical advice to science centres exhibits developmentBudget Management;Monitor the expenses in line with the budget allocatedEnsure effective utilization of cluster resourcesEnsure compliance to policies and treasury regulations Input to the department’s procurement and demand planInput to the department’s grant plan Participate in the development of terms of reference for funding and tendersParticipate in the evaluation of funding and tender proposalsProvide technical advice to the potential grant holdersParticipate in the specifications committees and evaluation committees for funding and tendersStakeholder Engagement;Resolve stakeholders’ queries as they emerge where necessary elevate to the cluster coordinator Maintain databases of stakeholdersProvide technical advice to stakeholdersOverall coordination of the stakeholdersEngage with internal and external stakeholders on matters of common interest Maintain good stakeholder relations Participate in meetings of stakeholders groupingsMonitoring, Support and Reporting;Identify possible risks and propose mitigation factorsPrepare and compile quarterly reports Distribute and collect data on correct templates for monitoring, and reporting
Minimum Qualification:
- Bachelors Degree / Advanced Diploma / NQF 7
Minimum Experience:
- (NQF Level 7) in STEM Three (3) year work experience
- Valid driver’s license
Experience:
- Three (3) year work experience in science engagement exhibitions
Knowledge:
- Content knowledge in science exhibitions and/or science engagement Stakeholder and network management Financial managementProject ManagementFramework of network of science centersContent knowledge in the relevant subject matterData collection for report writing Planning and organizational
