About the position
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented SQL Database Administrator (Level 2) to manage, maintain, and optimize our SQL Server databases. The successful candidate will ensure performance, integrity, security, and availability of databases, while supporting development and business teams with critical data needs.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases.
- Monitor and tune database performance for optimal efficiency.
- Perform regular backups and manage recovery procedures.
- Implement and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., Always On, Log Shipping).
- Administer database security, roles, and permissions.
- Develop and maintain documentation of database architecture and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with developers to optimize queries and improve application performance.
- Implement and manage ETL processes and data integration workflows.
- Conduct regular audits and ensure compliance with data governance policies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- Matric and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Proven experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator.
- Strong proficiency in SQL Server setup, configuration, and maintenance.
- Solid knowledge of database architecture, performance tuning, and optimization techniques.
- Hands-on experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
- Familiarity with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
