About the position
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Level 2 Network Engineer to support and maintain our network infrastructure. The successful candidate will manage escalated technical issues, monitor and troubleshoot network performance, and assist with implementing network upgrades and changes. This role requires strong technical expertise in LAN/WAN and MPLS environments, as well as hands-on experience with enterprise networking technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Provide second-level technical support for network-related incidents and requests escalated from Level 1 support.
- Perform day-to-day troubleshooting in LAN/WAN and MPLS environments, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Monitor and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, and other networking equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve LAN/WAN, wireless, and VPN connectivity issues.
- Maintain and update network documentation, diagrams, and change management records.
- Assist in the deployment and implementation of new network hardware, software, and related technologies.
- Collaborate with third-party vendors and service providers for troubleshooting and resolution.
- Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues and recommend long-term solutions.
- Participate in scheduled on-call rotations and provide after-hours support when required.
- Ensure compliance with security policies, standards, and best practices in all network configurations.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in network support or engineering.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing protocols.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, or similar networking technologies.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG).
- CCNA or equivalent certification preferred.
Skills:
- Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting Cisco, Juniper, or similar networking equipment.
- Experience with firewalls, wireless controllers, and load balancers.
- Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN and MPLS environments.
- Proficiency in network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Airwaves Aruba, ControlUp).
- Working knowledge of Windows and/or Linux environments.
