Salary for this position is R534 278.00 CTC per annum.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To provide an internal heritage resources management legal advice consultancy and support service to MANCo & EXCO and the organization at large to mitigate legal risk attached to business initiatives and operations; and to provide legal representation when the organization is involved in litigation or when needed.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
KPA 1: Legal Services.
KPA 2: Legal Representation.
KPA 3: Financial management.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Legal Services Advice:

  • Provide MANCo, GDRC and EXCO with reliable and sound legal advice on heritage resources management and governance matters.
  • Provide sound legal advice to SAHRA on all complex and high level cases involving disputes around heritage resources.

Legal Representation:

  • Ensure that SAHRA is adequately represented when faced with litigation on governance and heritage resources management issues.
  • Advice on the policy direction and legislation around heritage resources management issues.

Financial management:

  • Coordinate the budget activities of the department, sound management of financial resources and reporting in line with SAHRA's policies and national legislation.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • LLB Degree.
  • Admitted Attorney and experience post admission will as an attorney will be an advantage.

Other skills required:
Heritage Conservation Management.
Litigation.
Heritage Conservation.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

NUMERICALSKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages and volume.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

LICENSES:
A valid Code EB (08) driver's license.

Computer Skill:
Computer literacy with regard to the use of Excel, Word and Power Point.
