About the position
Our client is seeking legal counsel with experience in financial services and banking.
Responsibilities:
- Drafting of contracts and other legal documents
- Reviewing, managing and negotiating contracts
- Dispute resolution and providing legal advice
- Interpretation of relevant legislation
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation
- Risk management and mitigation
- Building and maintaining relations with internal and external stakeholders
- Conducting legal research
- Developing and implementing legal policies and procedures
- Reporting to legal head and stakeholders on policy implementation
- Conducting due diligence
Requirements:
- LLB and admission as an attorney in South Africa
- Postgraduate qualification in commercial law/corporate governance advantageous
- 4+ years of PQE in financial services and banking
- Knowledge of relevant legislation (i.e. POPIA, FSCA, FICA, AML, FAIS)
- Certifications in FAIS compliance and CAMS advantageous
