The company has a highly exciting opportunity available! We are searching for a Legal Assistant to join our vibrant and dynamic team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The Legal Assistant will provide legal, regulatory, compliance and administrative support to the Group Legal Advisor by assisting with legal documentation, regulatory compliance monitoring, legal research, document management and reporting, thereby enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the Legal Department.
RESPONSIBILITES
Commercial and Corporate Legal Support
- Maintain digital and physical minute books, statutory records and legal documentation for KTH and its subsidiaries.
- Assist with the drafting, review, formatting and administration of standard legal documents, including NDAs,
service level agreements and other commercial agreements. - Support the KTH Document Management Project through the organisation, digitisation and filing of legal records and agreements.
- Monitor legal documentation workflows, approvals, renewals and deadlines to ensure timely completion.
- Provide general administrative support to the Group Legal Advisor and legal function.
Regulatory, POPIA and PAIA Compliance Support
- Assist with the implementation, monitoring and maintenance of KTH's POPIA compliance framework.
- Attend compliance meetings and track actions arising from POPIA initiatives.
- Assist with annual PAIA submissions and related regulatory requirements.
- Maintain compliance registers, records and supporting documentation.
- Monitor compliance-related deadlines and escalate risks or outstanding matters where necessary.
Legal Research and Reporting
- Conduct legal and regulatory research on legislation, regulatory developments and governance matters affecting KTH and its portfolio companies.
- Prepare legal research summaries, reports and briefing notes for review by the Group Legal Advisor.
- Prepare presentations, status reports and departmental updates on legal and compliance matters.
Records and Information Management
- Ensure accurate filing, indexing and retrieval of legal documentation.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive legal, commercial and personal information.
- Support the implementation of legal document retention and governance standards.
- Promote efficient document control and information management practices within the Legal Department.
General
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, regulators, external legal advisors and service providers.
- Provide support on special projects and strategic initiatives assigned by the Group Legal Advisor.
- Continuously improve legal administration processes and departmental efficiencies.
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum LLB Degree, Paralegal Qualification, Legal Studies Qualification or equivalent relevant qualification.
- 0-3 years' experience in a legal, compliance, governance or paralegal environment.
- Suitable for an LLB graduate, candidate attorney-level applicant or experienced paralegal.
- Knowledge of corporate law, commercial contracts, legal administration and regulatory compliance.
- Understanding of POPIA, PAIA, Companies Act and governance principles will be advantageous. o Strong legal research, drafting and document management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail.
- Must have knowledge in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
