What you'll be doing (and why you'll enjoy it) You'll take ownership of the legal and compliance function for the SA, Namibian, Serbian and Tanzanian business that is part of a global business, supporting management across governance, risk and regulatory matters. Your role will include maintaining compliance frameworks, overseeing audits and due diligence processes, managing commercial agreements, handling company secretarial responsibilities and ensuring compliance with local and international regulations, including GDPR requirements. You'll also advise leadership on legal and compliance risks while helping ensure policies, procedures andgovernance controls are effectively maintained. This is a standalone function, so you'll need to be comfortable operating independently across both strategic and administrative aspects of legal and compliance, without any direct reports. One moment you may be preparing board documentation or advising executives, and the next you'll be handling operational compliance tasks yourself. What you'll need A completed LLB is essential, with admission as an Attorney advantageous but not essential. You'll need around 2 to 3 years' experience within legal and compliance in a corporate environment, with exposure to governance, risk and commercial contracts. Experience dealing with international legislation or GDPR will be beneficial. This role will suit someone who wants broad exposure ratherthan team management and who is equally comfortable engaging at executive level while remaining fully hands-on in the day-to-day running of the function.
