Position: Lead Inspector
Job Requirements:
- Exceptional Situations: Senior Equipment Inspector with full current certification in API 510, API 570, API 653, and familiarity with ASME welding and pressure vessel codes may be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 9 years in the petroleum or similar process industries, with 3 years in a quality assurance role involving enforcement and/or formulation of codes and standards.
- Field Inspection: 15 years of field inspection experience and proven technical knowledge and leadership experience may be considered.
- Communication Skills: Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge: Thorough understanding of relevant US and Saudi Aramco inspection/mechanical codes and standards, construction and maintenance procedures, materials testing procedures, engineering practices, economic principles, calculation methods, and design details.
- Corrosion Principles: General knowledge in refinery-specific corrosion principles and failure mechanisms, ASME and API code calculation principles and methodology, National Board Inspection Code, and risk-based inspection.
Preferred Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Work Experience:
- Responsible for all operations services for the refinery and designated company community facilities, including civil, electrical, piping, process mechanical equipment, pressure vessels, surface preparation, and coating inspection disciplines.
- Ensure all repair, replacement, or facility expansion projects are completed according to applicable codes and standards, or proper waivers are submitted and approved for deviations.
- Maintain adequate equipment/facility inspection records and fixed equipment repair histories.
- Provide required information for weekly highlights, OP, BP, monthly performance meetings, MIS, mid-year, and end accountability.
- Conduct performance evaluations for field supervisors and specialists, and plan promotions for qualified employees.
- Provide technical assistance to operations, maintenance, and special projects in resolving problems concerning methods and procedures within the scope of applicable codes and standards.
- Administer training functions in the unit and promote certification levels.
- Make periodic on-site inspections of work in progress to resolve problems, provide technical assistance, and evaluate the adequacy of inspection.
- Collaborate with Engineering Services Inspection Department to develop new company standards or improve existing standards and inspection methods.
- Review designs for plant modifications or repairs to verify compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Prepare proactive inspection requirements and forecast the need for new materials for all plant T&Is.
- Ensure an equipment inspection schedule (EIS) is maintained for all refinery plant pressure vessels and fixed equipment, adhering to approved inspection frequencies.
Preferred Certifications:
- ASME, API, AWS, and NACE certifications.
Preferred Skills:
- Minimum of 15 years in the refinery and/or natural gas liquids industry, specifically in mechanical inspection, with at least 10 years of field experience working on major turnarounds, field troubleshooting, and inspection.
- Certification in two of the following API accreditations: API-510, API-570, API-653.
- Certified Welding Inspector (CSWIP 3.1 or CWI/AWS).
- NACE Certified Coating Inspector Level II.
- Qualified NDT Examiner (Visual/Penetrant/Ultrasonic/Magnetic Particle Testing).
- Thorough knowledge of best engineering practices, industry codes, and standards.
