As a result of an awarded major EPCM project in Namibia, the client is seeking a highly skilled Lead Controls Engineer to join the on-site project team on a 6:2 roster.
About the role
- Lead the implementation and oversight of control systems across the project site, ensuring alignment with engineering design and operational requirements.
- Provide technical leadership in instrumentation, automation, and control systems, including PLCs, SCADA, and DCS platforms.
- Coordinate with engineering, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure seamless integration of control systems.
- Review and approve control system designs, specifications, and vendor documentation.
- Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of control systems, ensuring compliance with project standards and safety requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex control system issues during construction and commissioning phases.
- Liaise with client representatives and contractors to ensure quality and performance expectations are met.
About you
- 8+ years of experience in control systems engineering, with a strong background in mining, energy, or heavy industrial projects.
- Proven experience leading control systems design, installation, and commissioning on large-scale EPCM projects.
- Strong knowledge of automation platforms (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider) and industrial communication protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work in a remote, site-based environment and manage competing priorities under pressure.
- Relevant engineering degree and professional accreditation preferred.
