Land Use Assessment Assistant
Position Overview
The Land Use Assessment Assistant will support the Land Use Manager in reviewing, analyzing, and processing land use applications. The role requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of environmental and agricultural legislation, and the ability to produce clear and technically sound assessment reports. This position contributes to effective land use decision-making and the implementation of best practices in natural resource management.
Minimum Qualifications
- A relevant tertiary qualification in: Environmental Science, Land Use Planning, Natural Resource Management or a related field
Required Skills and Experience
- Knowledge and practical experience with relevant legislation, including:
- Conservation of Agricultural Resources Act (CARA), 43 of 1983
- Subdivision of Agricultural Land Act (SALA), 70 of 1970
- Preservation and Development of Agricultural Land Act (PDALA), 39 of 2024
- Strong understanding of natural resource management principles.
- Ability to analyze and assess complex land use applications.
- Proven ability to write clear, accurate, and technical reports.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and assess land use applications for compliance with relevant laws, policies, and regulations.
- Prepare high-quality assessment reports that are technically sound and easy to understand.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and provide inputs on land use decisions.
- Support the Land Use Manager in implementing best practices in natural resource management.
Location: Cape Town
Duration: 3 months contract
Salary: R222,00 per hour (R35 520 per month)
