FACULTY OF EDUCATION DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS, SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION LABORATORY TECHNICIAN: CIVIL TECHNOLOGY (P10) PERMANENT REF NO: WSU MTH EXT 2025/28 Key Performance Areas 

• Assist the lecturing staff of Civil Technology in organizing experiments for training purposes, such practical, tutorials and demonstrations, or assessment, including tests and examinations.
• Ensure safety measures and maintain neatness in the laboratory. 
• Request and control Civil Technology stock and manage inventory.

Skills and Competencies required.

• In depth understanding of the principles and standards of laboratory practice 
• Perform, conduct, and assess practical experiments in Civil Technology laboratories. 
• Help students with laboratory procedures and other technical expertise. 
• The ability to collaborate with lecturers from various majors within the program. 
• Practical organizational skills for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records and documentation following established standards. 
• Demonstrate Civil Technology practical techniques. 
• Maintain professionalism when interacting with students and colleagues. 
• Good oral and written communication skills 
• Be computer literate, knowledgeable in Civil Technology and proficient with Microsoft software applications. 
• Ability to take initiative for personal development. 

Minimum Requirements
Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Education in Technical Education NQF 7 

 Experience:

• A minimum of two years’ experience as a Civil Technology Laboratory Assistant or Technician or Teacher of Civil Technology in a Technical School is required.
