About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skiled Laboratory Analyst (Water Chemistry) to join our team, with a focus on wastewater, sewage, and environmental water testing. This is a laboratory-based position, responsible for coducting chemical analyses to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with water and wastewater chemistry, be proficient in standard laboratory practice, and demonstrate strong quality control and data recording practices.

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform chemical testing of wastewater, sewage, and water samples for parameters such as pH, turbidity, BOD, COD, TSS, ammonia, nitrates, phosphates
  • Prepare and standardize reagents and solutions for daily lab use
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory instruments such as spectrophotometer etc
  • Follow standard test methods (e.g APHA, ISO, EPA) and laboratory SOPs
  • Analyze test results and prepare detailed reports with accurate data ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Ensure accurate documentation of test results, data entry, and interpretation in line with quality assurance protocols
  • Continuously improve testing procedures and methodologies and revise/write up SOPs
  • Assist with quality assurance programs and participate in internal and external audits
  • On-site sampling with clients as required
  • She/he will be expected to set-up new laboratory systems and procedures
  • Maintain inventory control within his/her section of the laboratory

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor or Master degree in relevant fields such Chemistry, Environental Science, Water Science or a related scientific discipline
  • At least 4 years of laboratory experience, preferably in a water or wastewater lab
  • Knowldge of chemical analysis techniques and relevant environmental standards
  • Familiarity with ISO17025 quality systems is highly desirable
  • Experience with using common water chemistry instrumentation and methods
  • Comfortable working with wastewater and sewage samples in a controlled lab environment.

Please note: While the role is permanent, the initial employment agreement will be issued as a fixed-term contract to comply with work permit regulations in Seychelles. This does not affect lone-term employment intent or benefits.

Salary: Gross salary SCR 18,000 (before tax). Based in Seychelles Rupees (SCR), commensurate with qualificiations and experience.

This position is based in Seychelles - relocation to Seychelles is required. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview.
