About the position
Leading organisation who supply mining and earthmoving machines is looking for a Key Account Manager. This position is based in JHB East Rand. Sales experience with mining machines such as Excavators, Dozers and Haul Trucks, is essential.
Reporting to the Head of Mining Sales, the Key Account Manager drives divisional sales growth and strengthens client relationships with existing and prospective customers. The role involves extensive travel within South Africa and internationally, representing the company and building lasting brand loyalty.
You will be responsible for all sales activities related to Excavators, Dozers, and Haul Trucks.
You will develop and execute strategies to acquire new clients and projects within the mining sector.
Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities, including mine sites, contractors, and industrial clients.
Prepare and submit tenders, proposals, and commercial offers, ensuring high tender success rates.
Ensure accurate and timely machine forecasts and maintain up-to-date CRM records for opportunities and quotations.
Maintain and grow market share through proactive engagement and participation in market opportunities.
Ensure specifications are accurately compiled in the LIAS configurator, fully aligning products with customer requirements.
Communicate machine production capabilities clearly and technically accurately to clients.
All sales-related admin and reporting to be completed and submitted on a weekly basis.
Liaises with factories, Workshop and Technical Product Support teams in order to ensure customer satisfaction, product quality and efficient service delivery.
Arranges visits to customers to discuss potential business, local or cross border.
Demonstrate / present MIN products and sales offers.
Negotiates with clients to achieve a situation resulting in profitable sales.
Establishes new leads and grow the customer portfolio.
Attend meetings with clients and management, ensuring minutes are submitted timeously.
Attend tender briefings & site visits.
Make sure all relevant documentation has been signed off by authorised persons.
Due diligence processes.
Attend international training courses & conferences.
Attend factory and expo visits with customers.
Demonstrate Sound Planning and Execution in terms of Time management.
Liaise with Marketing Department to increase visibility.
Maintain continuous oversight and proactive follow-up on all outstanding transactions
Meet customer management to understand the project scope, production targets and fleet requirements.
Responsible for all sales activities related to Excavators, Dozers, and Haul Trucks.
Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities to inform business strategy.
Ensure alignment and full understanding of any new and/or existing technology products
Prepare and submit tenders, proposals, and commercial offers; drive high tender win rates.
Estimate production rates, costs per ton of excavators and trucks as well as the fleet size
Analyze Won & Lost orders
Communicate product capabilities, constraints, and realistic expectations to ensure informed customer decisions.
