The Role: Key Account Manager
This role is ideal for a commercially astute and relationship-driven professional with strong export experience across Southern Africa. You'll manage key accounts, identify growth opportunities, and drive strategic business development within South Africa and Namibia. The role requires a balance of technical understanding, market insight, and hands-on sales leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic Key Account Management plans to achieve growth and profitability targets
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders across key clients and distributors
- Identify and unlock new business opportunities within South Africa and Namibia
- Collaborate with segment managers to align account strategies with business objectives
- Manage annual budgets, forecasts, and sales performance metrics
- Provide accurate market intelligence and competitor analysis to inform decision-making
- Drive indirect sales through distributor channels and develop new partnerships
- Resolve customer concerns promptly while maintaining service excellence
- Utilise CRM and digital tools to manage pipelines and report on performance
- Ensure cross-functional collaboration across technical, sales, and global teams
About You
- Minimum 5 years experience in technical or industrial B2B sales (Protective Coatings, Oil & Gas, Mining, or Marine sectors preferred)
- Bachelors degree preferred; NACE, Frosio, or Corrodere certification advantageous
- Fluent in Afrikaans and English
- Proven track record of achieving sales and margin growth targets
- Strong business acumen, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities
- Self-driven, professional, and able to operate independently or within a matrix team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM tools
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
