About the position

Key Account Manager Foodservice

Cape Town | Permanent

The Opportunity

We are looking for a commercially driven and relationship-focused Key Account Manager to take ownership of a portfolio of national and regional foodservice clients.

This is a high-impact role focused on driving sales growth, managing key customer relationships, and ensuring operational excellence across your accounts.

What You'll Be Doing Sales & Commercial Performance
  • Drive turnover, margin, and profitability across key accounts
  • Achieve and exceed sales targets and budget expectations
  • Develop and implement strategic growth plans
  • Analyse performance and provide insights to improve results
  • Prepare weekly and monthly sales, margin, and forecast reports
Key Account Management
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships
  • Understand client needs and deliver tailored commercial solutions
  • Act as the main point of contact between customers and the business
  • Resolve issues effectively to maintain service excellence and trust
Operations & Supply Chain
  • Ensure accurate and timely product delivery
  • Manage stock levels, replenishment, and forecasting
  • Monitor stock availability and proactively communicate with clients
  • Oversee depot and DC stock holding for key accounts
  • Handle returns and claims efficiently
Reporting & Market Insights
  • Track and report on account performance and forecasts
  • Analyse competitor activity and market trends
  • Identify opportunities to expand product ranges (SKU optimisation)
  • Lead pricing, promotions, and listing negotiations
Team Leadership
  • Lead, support, and develop a team of sales representatives
  • Provide regular performance feedback and guidance
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment
What We're Looking For
  • 3 5 years' experience in FMCG Key Account Management
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
  • Experience within foodservice or perishable goods (advantageous)
  • Ability to manage both strategic and operational aspects of accounts
  • Willingness to travel locally
Qualifications
  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Degree in Sales, Marketing, or related field (required)
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems
Additional Information
  • Permanent role (6-month probation)
  • Working hours: 08:00 17:00
