About the position
ENVIRONMENT:
Our client, a leading investment and wealth management business, is seeking a motivated Junior Wealth Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and growing a wealth management portfolio by developing strong client relationships, conducting client meetings, and leveraging strategic distribution partnerships. The primary purpose of the role is to establish and nurture long-term client relationships while growing Assets Under Management (AUM) and contributing to the overall expansion of the business.
DUTIES:
- Build a wealth management book of clients through client meetings and leveraging partnered distribution relationships.
- Constantly monitor and follow up on the new business implementation process to ensure seamless and smooth client acquisition.
- Consult with various stakeholders, including:
- Portfolio Managers
- Product Suppliers
- Administrative Staff
- Draft investment proposals and investment reports.
- Compile, update, and maintain weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly investment feedback reports for selected clients and all partners.
- Continuously maintain and analyse the investment book.
- Update internal weekly pipeline reports on POS (internal system).
- Compile and update portfolio asset allocation spreadsheets.
- Provide a minimum of bi-monthly partner updates.
- Maintain ongoing communication and engagement with partners.
- Work closely with Wealth Managers within the team, providing assistance and advice while collaborating to build the business.
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge & Industry Experience
- Clear understanding of financial services, including investments and the broader financial services industry.
- Clear understanding of the administration of financial services, products, and investment platforms.
- Understanding of FAIS and subordinate legislation, FICA, and PoPIA.
- Experience with Investment Funds, Collective Investment Schemes (CIS), JSE, equities, and other investment classes.
- Private Banking / Wealth Management experience.
- Experience in investment advisory and financial planning.
- Industry exposure and competitor analysis.
Job Experience
- High-net-worth client interaction (essential).
- 3–5 years’ experience as a Client Wealth Manager, Financial Advisor, Financial Planner, or Private Banker.
- Sound financial acumen and customer service excellence.
- Strong client relationship management ability.
- Target-driven approach.
Education
- BCom or similar qualification in Finance, Wealth Management, Investment Management, or a related field.
