About the position
Job Title: Junior/Trainee Interest Rate/Bond Broker
As an Junior/trainee Interest Rate Broker working on an Interdealer Broker (IDB) desk, you will act as an intermediary between major financial institutions to facilitate the trading of Interest Rate Swaps (IRS), Forward Rate Agreements (FRAs) Short-term interest rate futures and bonds etc. Your primary role is to match buyers and sellers, provide market intelligence, and help clients manage interest rate exposure efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate Trades: Match buy and sell interests across a range of interest rate products between major banks, hedge funds, and institutional clients.
- Market Making & Price Discovery: Provide real-time pricing and market color to clients, enhancing transparency and liquidity in the interest rate markets.
- Client Coverage: Build and maintain strong relationships with institutional clients and ensure continuous coverage during market hours.
- Order Management: Manage orders efficiently on voice or electronic platforms, ensuring best execution and confidentiality.
- Information Flow: Maintain a deep understanding of market trends, economic releases, and geopolitical events that impact interest rates.
- Compliance: Operate within the relevant legal and regulatory frameworks, including MiFID II and Dodd-Frank, while maintaining strong risk awareness.
- Technology Use: Leverage electronic trading platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, SwapSwire etc.) to facilitate and record transactions accurately.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, or related field (preferred)
- Strong understanding of fixed income and derivatives markets
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- High level of attention to detail and integrity
- Ability to work under pressure and make decisions quickly
- Proficiency in Bloomberg, Excel, and relevant trading platforms
