About the position

Key Responsibilities:

Sizing Battery & Power Systems

  • Technical sizing DC- & Solar Solutions
  • Selection and recommendation of appropriate equipment and technologies to be used for Reserve applications
  • Size rectifier systems to customer requirements
  • Sizing battery systems to customer requirements
  • Sizing batteries for various UPS & hybrid solutions
  • Sizing batteries for solar solutions

Electrical Design

  • Both AC and DC electrical layout design according to prevailing standards
  • Compile BOM (Bill of Material) for systems and solutions
  • Sizing cables for application AC and DC, where required
  • Solar design and product knowledge

Fault Finding

  • On site fault-finding of various batteries, solar and rectified based systems, where applicable for reserve
  • Telephonic and email support to customers when faults occur for reserve

Product Evaluation

  • Do technical evaluations of new and existing products
  • Advise management on new products that could enhance product and service offering.
  • Sales & Technical Support
  • Compile technical proposals
  • Provide technical support to other members of the sales team
  • Customer and site visits in South Africa and Sub Sahara Africa
  • Generate sales for both existing and new customers
  • Compile internal technical weekly reports
  • Assist with technical manuals, ATP's and customer training, on site and in the classroom
  • Updating of existing customer manuals and approved distribution
  • Handle RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) & warranty process from all factories
  • Manage emergency stock in all countries monthly
  • Keep the warranty database up to date and use it to validate warranty of products

Key Requirements:

  • N6, T4 or B.Eng. in Electronics or Technical Diploma Electrical (preferable with Power Electronics)
  • 1 to 2 years' experience in Power Electronics, DC Power, Battery Technologies or any related field
  • 1 to 2 years Solar Design and product knowledge
  • Strong data analysis skills - Excel, Word & VBA Programming Competency
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • DC Power & Battery knowledge for Reserve Power
  • Mathematical competence
  • Knowledge of electrical standards
  • Understanding of power electronics in telecommunications applications
  • Knowledge of lead acid, Nicad & Lithium-ion batteries and chargers
  • Understanding UPS & Hybrid solutions
  • In depth product knowledge
  • Knowledge of system inter- dependencies
  • Travel in South Africa and Africa to support customers and do training. (valid passport)
  • Knowledge of products in industry
  • Microsoft Office competent (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Compile and share Weekly Reports
  • Customer classroom and onsite training
  • Technical & Product Presentations
  • Manage Warranty & emergency stock in countries
