About the Role
We are seeking a Junior Production Pharmacist to support and oversee pharmaceutical manufacturing operations in line with cGMP standards. Reporting to the Responsible Pharmacist, you will coordinate production activities, ensure quality compliance, and lead production teams to meet operational targets.
You will also act as Deputy Responsible Pharmacist and assume RP responsibilities when required.

Key Responsibilities
Production & Operations

• Coordinate and control production activities according to cGMP
• Ensure production aligns with Batch Manufacturing Records (BMR)
• Manage line opening, clearing, and closing processes
• Monitor production efficiency, downtime, and schedule adherence
• Lead daily production meetings and workflow planning
• Drive continuous improvement and manufacturing efficiencies

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure SOP implementation and adherence across production
• Review batch manufacturing documentation and release intermediates on SYSPRO
• Investigate deviations, CAPAs, and quality issues
• Support audits, validations, and quality systems maintenance
• Ensure compliance with SAPHRA regulations

Leadership & Team Management

• Supervise production teams and departmental supervisors
• Allocate resources and manage workforce capacity
• Conduct training and performance oversight
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet production targets

Maintenance & Safety

• Ensure equipment maintenance and compliance with SOPs
• Support planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
• Maintain high standards of health & safety (OHAS)

Minimum Requirements

• B.Pharm Degree or equivalent
• Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council
• 5–8 years’ experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing
• Strong leadership experience in a production environment
• Computer literate (MS Office, advanced Excel; Syspro advantageous)
• Project management experience
