About the position
An independent primary school is growing from January 2027 and appointing four Foundation Phase teachers - one each for Grades R, 1, 2 and 3, with one post requiring Grade 2 specialisation. This is not a traditional Foundation Phase classroom. Two Lead Teachers share full responsibility for one class, teaching in an open-plan Learning Hub with a dedicated Enquiry Studio for hands-on, enquiry-led work. You plan daily with your co-teacher and teach in smaller groups within a larger cohort rather than working alone. If what you want is your own closed classroom, this is not that job. You will need a recognised Foundation Phase teaching qualification - a B.Ed Foundation Phase, or a PGCE with a Foundation Phase specialisation - together with SACE registration. An Early Childhood Development qualification on its own does not qualify. CAPS teaching experience across Grades R to 3 is expected, and the teaching itself is play-based and enquiry-led. The advertised band is total cost to company and includes a 13th cheque and a provident fund contribution. Where you sit in it is negotiable on your teaching experience.
