About the position
A Junior PLC Programmer is required for a busy manufacturing company in Durban South. Project reliability, system reliability, documentation quality, learning progress, team support and compliance are the crucial aspects of this role.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design, programming, and commissioning of PLC systems
- Support in troubleshooting and maintaining existing PLC and automation systems
- Configure and test PLCs (Siemens, Delta, and other platforms)
- Document all programming, changes, and system configurations
- Support senior engineers in upgrading, modifying, and optimizing automation processes
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards during installations and maintenance
- Provide technical support to production/maintenance teams when issues arise
- Participate in project planning, implementation, and reporting
Requirements:
- National Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or related field
- PLC programming certification or training (Siemens, Delta, Allen-Bradley, or equivalent)
- Basic understanding of industrial control systems, SCADA, and HMI design
- Knowledge of electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting methods
- 0-2 years relevant experience (internships/projects acceptable)
- Valid driver's license (advantageous for site work)
