Junior - Mid Data Scientist (CPT Hybrid)

About the position

ENVIRONMENT:

JOIN the Data Team of a fast-growing FinTech company with a footprint on the African continent seeking a highly skilled Junior – Mid Data Scientist to help execute the credit scoring roadmap. The ideal candidate must balance analytical diligence with a willingness to learn and innovate. A healthy spirit of adventure and sense of humour would be helpful. Applicants must possess a Degree in Actuarial Science/Statistics/Mathematics or Engineering with proficiency in Google Big Query, SQL, Python & R. You must also have a solid understanding of data warehouses and data structures.

DUTIES:

Client Limit Management –

• Scorecard code maintenance, testing and reporting.
• Assist in development of scorecards and credit policy proposals.
• Analysis and recommendations based on test results.

REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications –

• Degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Engineering.

Experience/Skills -

• Be able to effectively communicate (orally/written) findings on analytical approaches.
• Ability to translate business problems into analysis.
• Proficient in Data Analysis tools (Google Big Query, SQL, Python, R).
• Strong numerical / coding abilities.
• Have a basic understanding of data warehouses and data structures.
• Optional: Passion for Africa and willingness to work in the developing world context.
