Global legal practice is looking to appoint a Junior Librarian
Assist with information pertaining to strategic headlight and practice areas as well as business development. Assist with general library administrative and monitoring services
REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications:
- Degree/diploma in Library and Information Science
- Minimum 3 - 5 years Law Library experience
- Good computer literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft office;
- Knowledge and experience of electronic legal resources such as LexisNexis, Juta and Sabinet databases.
- Knowledge and experience of Library management software like Sirsi, Inmagic or similar.
Skills, Knowledge and Attributes:
- Knowledge of library management and principles
- Knowledge of law library content, reference, and research materials
- Knowledge of basic procedures and standards for preservation, storage, and repair of library materials
- Ability to prepare presentations
- Ability to prepare reports in response to management requests
- Ability to prioritise and delegate
- Ability to engage in effective reference interviews with users and interpret user needs
- Knowledge of classification, cataloguing and indexing
- Good internet research skills
- Good command of the English language, both verbal and written
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Good interpersonal skills / Client liaison
- Adaptable, positive, and innovative
- Ability to work in a team as well as independently
- Conscientious, pro-active, and service orientated
- Initiative, good sense of judgment
- Punctual and reliable
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong service mindset.
