Junior Lawyer (Research Assistant in Healthcare - 1 year Fixed Term Contract)

About the position

Background:

• Our client is an award-winning global research organisation based in Durban - KZN.
• We seek a Research Assistant to join a study team of public health lawyers to work on projects related to alcohol laws, good governance and pandemic preparedness laws in multiple jurisdictions.

Minimum Requirements:              

• LLB Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences or related field
• 1-2 years of research experience in public health policy or law, legal epidemiology or qualitative research
• Interest in policy-relevant research and/or engagement with government

Key Responsibilities:      

• Conduct and analyse qualitative interviews with key stakeholders
• Produce reports on laws or policies within project areas
• Contribute to the drafting and submission of high-quality manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals (both public health and legal scholarship)
• Present findings at academic conferences, workshops and stakeholder engagement forums.
• Provide research implementation and administrative support, including assisting with ethics applications
