About the position
Introduction
To conduct various microbiological, analytical, and organoleptic analyses on samples according to laboratory systems, procedures, and standards and also to ensure the provision of accurate and reliable results to the Manufacturing Plants.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conducting analyses and generate accurate, analytical, microbiological, and sensory results
- Receival of samples and registration on LIMS
- Assess the results and send an alert or non-conformance notification to the manufacturing plants
- Ensure communication with manufacturing plants regarding sample arrivals as well as sensory test schedules
- Participating in the ongoing development of Laboratory Quality Systems by participating in proficiency testing schemes
- Ensure verification of laboratory equipment (Incubators & Refrigerators, Balances, pH meter, Autoclaves, Viscometer, Refractometer, and Micropipettes etc.)
- Assist in writing and reviewing SOPs, Validation Protocols, Quality Protocols, test methods, and specifications
- Maintain GLP (good laboratory practices) & GDP (good documentation practices) in order to adhere to SOPs, quality, compliance and applicable regulations
- Conduct Reagents Stock control and rotation and ensure that laboratory consumables are ordered
- Keep track of and store all positive pathogens and maintain ATCC reference cultures and ensure validity
- Conduct environmental monitoring of the laboratory to ensure validity of results and housekeeping
- Undertake additional general laboratory support functions
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Knowledge of the requirements of the ISO/IEC 17025 Management System
- Ability to use LIMS
- Proven ability to conduct relevant analytical procedures in accordance with recognized methods
- Must have strong analytical ability
- Ability to pay attention to detail
- Systematic, organized, high energy and result driven
- Adaptable and show initiative to develop further
- Ability to work extended hours as and when required
- Ability to work independently without supervision
- National Diploma in Biotechnology/Food Technology/Microbiology
- At least 1 year experience working in the Quality Control Laboratory
