JUNIOR LAB TECHNICIAN
Overview: The Lab Assistant provides support to the R&D team, by assisting with sample preparation, raw material stock management and measuring equipment validation and maintaining housekeeping of the working lab area.
Duties:
Provide support to the R&D team.
Prepare R&D and customer samples
Validate measuring equipment
Perform basic routine analysis
Ensure that equipment and workspace is clean and tidy
Daily tasks:
At all times to work safely to the business standards
At all times to maintain clean and tidy personal work area (work bench and cupboards)
Assist the chemists in their daily function as required – specifically assisting in sample mixes and testing
Prepare samples required by customers and sales team
Ensure availability of fresh stock material
Ensure that raw material store is maintained – all samples numbered and with expiry date
Validation of lab measuring equipment and maintenance of records
Assist Production with running of lab production scale trial batches
Assist in Quality Assurance as and when required
Keep the lab clean and tidy by cleaning general work areas i.e. sinks, equipment, work benches, bins, etc
Requirements:
ND Polymer chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or equivalent
1 Year’s laboratory experience
Remuneration:
Neg up to R10000 plus benefits and 13th Cheque
