Junior Financial Accountant

About the position

DESCRIPTION/SYNOPSIS:
A leading multinational logistics and freight forwarding company is looking for a detail-driven Financial Accountant to join their finance team based in Johannesburg. The role will report into the Financial Controller and is a key position within the local finance division.
This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate who enjoys working in a fast-paced international business. The successful applicant will gain wide-ranging exposure to financial reporting, taxation, audits, and group consolidations. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• BCom Degree in Accounting or Finance
• Completed SAICA/SAIPA Articles preferred OR
• 1 - 2 years' experience in accounting and tax
• Sound understanding of VAT, tax compliance and audit preparation
• Exposure to the logistics/freight industry advantageous
• Exposure to foreign currencies and foreign exchange transactions a bonus!
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and analytical thinking

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in preparing monthly financial reports and management accounts
• Process journal entries, reconciliations, and financial schedules
• Support month-end and quarter-end closing procedures
• Manage VAT and tax return submissions and assist with audit preparations
• Ensure accuracy in capturing invoices, payments, and payroll data
• Maintain the fixed asset register and perform depreciation calculations
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting as required
• Collaborate with stakeholders and provide ad-hoc financial support and reports
