Junior Engineer

About the position

We are seeking a motivated and technically strong Junior Mechanical Engineer to support manufacturing and fabrication operations.

This role will focus on assisting with production optimisation, technical drawing development, product improvements, cost-reduction initiatives, and research & development projects. The successful candidate will work closely with senior engineers, production teams, and cross-functional departments to ensure efficient manufacturing processes and high-quality product output.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in analysing and improving manufacturing workflows
• Support initiatives aimed at reducing production costs and minimising waste
• Monitor production metrics such as downtime, cycle times, and efficiency
• Assist with troubleshooting manufacturing challenges and implementing corrective actions
• Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
• Produce and update 2D and 3D CAD drawings for standard and custom tank designs
• Assist with design-for-manufacture improvements to optimise fabrication processes
• Support implementation of engineering changes through to production
• Contribute to New Product Introduction (NPI) projects
• Research and apply relevant industry or international standards where required
• Support quality assurance processes and ensure adherence to product specifications
• Assist with inspections and reporting of non-conformances
• Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action processes
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards within the manufacturing environment
• Liaise with production, procurement, and installation teams
• Assist in providing technical support

Minimum Requirements

• BSc / BEng / BTech in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
• 3 years' experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment
• Strong working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and steel fabrication
• Exposure to FEA or CFD advantageous
• Proficiency in MS Office and technical reporting
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
• Ability to work independently under supervision
• Logical thinker with structured approach
• Ability to manage multiple technical tasks simultaneously
