Junior Draughtsman

About the position

Duties and Responsibilities:

Engineering Coordination & Design Interpretation

• Collaborate with engineers to understand project requirements and design intent.
• Verify design details and recommend improvements aligned with company standards.
• Interpret specifications and translate them into workable designs.

Design Revisions & Change Management

• Update and revise drawings and models based on engineering changes.
• Maintain version control and ensure all updates are accurately reflected.

Resolve design issues efficiently.

2D and 3D Modelling & Design Development

• Develop accurate and detailed 3D CAD models using approved software.
• Ensure models reflect engineering intent and are manufacturable.
• Apply industry and company drafting standards in all designs.
• Generate detailed 2D drawings from 3D models.
• Produce manufacturing-ready drawings including dimensions, tolerances, and materials.
• Ensure drawings comply with drafting and quality standards.

Documentation & Data Management

• Organize and maintain drawing files within the product data management (PDM) system.
• Ensure integrity and traceability of all drawings and models.
• Manage Vault library components (parts and assemblies).

Manufacturing & Procurement Support

• Create manufacturing drawings and bills of materials (BOMs).
• Compute material dimensions and quantities.
• Upload kits and drawings into the ERP system for procurement.

CAD System Utilisation & Continuous Improvement

• Effectively use CAD tools (e.g., Autodesk Inventor) to produce efficient designs.
• Troubleshoot basic CAD issues independently.
• Continuously improve skills and adopt best practices.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Ensure all drawings comply with internal standards and relevant industry standards.
• Participate in design reviews and quality audits.
• Maintain high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.

Requirements:

• 2 years' working experience preferably in engineering or manufacturing environment heavy equipment or structural design specialisation advantageous
• Certification / Qualification in Mechanical Drafting B Engineering
• Auto-desk Inventor Professional Proficiency
• Auto-desk Vault Proficiency
• Technical Drafting Standards
