Junior Draughtsman

About the position

An exciting opportunity has become available within the Engineering Consulting industry, for a Junior Structural Draughtsman. The position is based in Durbanville, Cape Town.

The Structural Draughtsman will be part of a team providing engineering services for large and small projects. The general nature of projects includes the following:

• Residential buildings
• Commercial buildings
• Industrial buildings
• Educational facilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and assist in delivering project requirements.
• Develop models & Drawings (2D & 3D)
• Perform conceptual layout work.
• Manage drawings and issuing of drawings.
• Verify onsite conditions and dimensions relating to existing facilities.
• Co-ordination with the professional team
• Ad-hoc inspections and report writing.

Requirements:

• 2-5 years' experience in draughting (structural draughting preferred)
• Proficient in the use of 2D and 3D software to prepare structural drawings.
• Site experience will be beneficial.
• Knowledge of industry or regulatory standards, regulations and codes related to projects.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to identify project requirements, prioritize tasks and timeframes to meet project target dates.
• Ability to accept responsibility.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Skills in the use of the following software packages will be compulsory:
• Revit
• AutoCAD
• Padds/AutoPadds

Desired Skills:

• Afrikaans
• Revit
• Autocad

Desired Work Experience:

• 2 to 5 years
