Junior Buyer

About the position

Detail-oriented Junior Buyer/ Buyer Assistant needed in Brakpan to procure consumables, hardware, and industrial supplies efficiently while ensuring cost control and compliance.
Key Responsibilities

• Source and obtain quotations from approved suppliers for required goods and services
• Process purchase orders on SAP and ensure timely submission to suppliers
• Follow up on deliveries and communicate any delays or changes with internal stakeholders
• Verify delivered goods against purchase orders and resolve discrepancies with suppliers
• Ensure accurate and complete documentation is submitted for payment processing
• Maintain and update supplier database, including BEE certificates and compliance records
• Monitor supplier performance and maintain strong supplier relationships
• Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities within procurement activities
• Prepare regular reports on outstanding orders, supplier performance, and BEE spend
• Support procurement team with price comparisons and analysis of local vs imported goods
• Ensure compliance with company SHEQ policies and procurement procedures

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• 3–5 years’ experience in a buying/procurement role, preferably within manufacturing or engineering environments
• Proven experience in sourcing engineering items, consumables, and hardware
• Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
• Good understanding of procurement processes and cost control
• Knowledge of BEE requirements and supplier compliance is advantageous
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
