Our Client is looking for a Junior Buyer to join their team
Location: Industria Johannesburg
Job Summary
The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing raw materials, packaging components, and associated goods and services. The role involves close collaboration with suppliers and internal departments to maintain optimal inventory levels, control costs, and ensure timely delivery to support production.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure packaging materials and components
- Evaluate supplier performance and maintain strong vendor relationships
- Negotiate pricing, contract terms, and delivery schedules
- Manage the purchase order process and resolve discrepancies
- Coordinate with production, quality, and logistics teams
- Monitor market trends and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Maintain accurate procurement and inventory records
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards
Requirements
- Previous experience in a buying or procurement role (preferably in packaging, manufacturing, or FMCG)
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite)
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams
- Attention to detail and a proactive problem-solving approach
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field (preferred)
