About the position

An exciting position exists in the Sales department - Junior Business Development Manager at Sir Fruit, Woodstock, Cape Town.

Sir Fruit is looking for a Jnr Business Development Manager. We are looking for a bright, energetic, and charismatic young go-getter with a hunger to learn and grow within a dynamic organization. The individual must not be afraid to roll up their sleeves, display a can-do attitude and someone who will enjoy working in a fast-growing, fun but hard-working environment.

The role of Junior Business Development Manager will be tasked with providing in trade assistance/ support to the current Business Development Managers within the on-trade channel.

Time in trade will allow for a considerable amount of on-the-job training to the point where the individual has full understanding of the business and ways of working and develops a strong know-how of what the Business Development Managers role entails.

The individual would work in line with a weekly schedule, working on a rotational basis with each regional Business Development Manager within the Cape town region.

From time to time, it would be required that the individual work outside of the schedule as per a business need/ requirement and potentially travel to other parts of the country to assist where needed.

The Jnr Business Development Manager would also be required to cover territories in a Business Development Manager's absence (sick leave, annual leave) that are vacant and where there are specific business needs - i.e., Events, etc. The role would require a high degree of flexibility and mobility.

The Jnr Business Development Manager would report directly to the Regional Field Sales Manager.

Main Purpose/Objectives of the Job:

  • Provide in trade assistance/ support to the Business Development Managers within the on-trade channel
  • Have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Sir Fruit product portfolio
  • Be knowledgeable of the pricing (cost prices and RSPs) of all products within the Sir Fruit portfolio
  • Understand and know timings and expectations of each quarterly cycle
  • Develop strong level of negotiation skills through on-the-job training
  • Know the importance and relevance of following call routes and being face to face with customers
  • Quickly learn and understand the steps of an effective sales call
  • Develop a strong set of selling skills, making use of all sales tools at disposal to actively drive sales revenue for the business
  • Grow brand reach by being able to successfully negotiate and secure new listings
  • Be able to plan for daily, monthly and quarterly in trade effectiveness
  • Actively merchandise product increasing visibility and following space management principles
  • Effectively deploy, with the sales representative's guidance, all given brand POS in trade
  • Keep all sales and work-related administration updated
  • Develop an understanding of the Skynamo sales system
  • Flexible and national mobility

Education and Experience:

  • Completed Grade 12
  • Tertiary qualifications are an added advantage
  • 2+ Years' experience
  • Experience in an FMCG sales environment would be advantage
  • 2+ Years' experience as a Sales Brand Ambassador
  • Microsoft -Excel, Outlook, Word

Competencies required:

  • Good negotiation skills
