About the position
Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for processing daily financial transactions up to trial balance level, assisting with payroll administration, and supporting reconciliations and reporting functions.
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping
- Capture and process financial transactions up to trial balance
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records
- Process supplier invoices and customer transactions
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Maintain general ledger accounts
- Assist with month-end and year-end procedures
Payroll
- Process payroll using SimplePay
- Capture and maintain employee information accurately
- Assist with leave, overtime, and statutory deductions
- Generate payslips and payroll reports
- Ensure compliance with SARS requirements (PAYE, UIF, SDL)
Reconciliations & Support
- Assist the Senior Accountant with reconciliations (bank, creditors, debtors)
- Prepare and maintain Excel schedules and working papers
- Identify and resolve discrepancies
- Provide support during audits and financial reviews
Minimum Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Accounting or Bookkeeping (Certificate, Diploma, or Degree)
- 1-3 years' bookkeeping experience
- Experience processing transactions up to trial balance
- Payroll experience (SimplePay advantageous)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Solid understanding of accounting principles
- Knowledge of South African statutory requirements (SARS, VAT, PAYE)
