About the position
Our client based in Pinetown is seeking a highly detail-oriented and accurate Junior Accountant to join our finance team.
The ideal candidate will hold a BCom degree, with completed articles being advantageous. This role requires someone who is analytical, proactive, and able to take ownership of financial processes while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Processing & Reconciliations
Maintain and reconcile financial records, including
Bank accounts
Debtors and creditors
Intercompany accounts
Loan accounts and general ledger balances
Process and post journal entries accurately
Process intercompany transactions
Ensure all financial records are complete and accurate
Accounts Payable & Receivable
Ensure suppliers are paid accurately and on time
Ensure customer statements are accurate and sent out timeously
Follow up on outstanding debtors and escalate overdue accounts
Resolve discrepancies or disputes with suppliers and customers
Reporting & Financial Management
Assist in the preparation of:
Weekly and monthly management accounts
Annual budgets
Budget vs actual analysis
Support month-end and year-end closing processes
Monitor and assist with cash flow management
Compliance & Audit
Assist with VAT, PAYE, and other statutory requirements (with support from external accountants)
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies
Assist in financial audits and liaise with auditors
Process Improvement & Support
Identify opportunities for improving financial processes and cost efficiencies
Assist in drafting and maintaining financial policies and SOPs
Provide financial insights to support management decision-making
