Dashboard and Report Developer

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
To design, develop, and maintain high-quality, business-critical dashboards and reports that translate complex data from legacy and newly implemented core systems into clear, reliable, and actionable insights. The role is accountable for partnering closely with business stakeholders, system owners, and data engineering teams to define reporting requirements, ensure data quality and governance compliance, and deliver performant, automated Power BI solutions that support operational decision-making, continuity during system transitions, and the adoption of self-service business intelligence across the organisation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
- Engage with business stakeholders and both legacy system owners and the core systems replacement project team to understand reporting needs and KPIs, and translate these into clear, actionable reports and visual requirements
- Proactively identify gaps in data availability or quality across legacy and new systems and collaborate closely with data engineering teams to shape reporting datasets and address identified shortfalls.
- Power BI reports and dashboards aligned with defined business and reporting requirements, ensuring continuity between legacy reporting solutions and new systems.
- Design and maintain Power BI dataflows and refresh schedules to ensure automated, up-to-date reporting with minimal manual intervention.
- Monitor and resolve performance issues by optimising DAX calculations and data models to improve report responsiveness.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and access policies.
- Provide guidance and training to business users on report usage, respond to user feedback, and continuously improve reports.
- Document update procedures and refresh schedules for reports and dashboards.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related analytical or technical discipline
DESIRED EDUCATION
- Microsoft or other recognised Power BI or data visualisation certifications will be advantageous
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
- 3-5 Years' hands-on experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI
- Proven experience engaging with business stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and translate these into actionable reporting solutions
REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Strong proficiency in Power BI (reports, dashboards, datasets, dataflows, and refresh scheduling)
- Solid experience with data modelling concepts
- Advanced working knowledge of DAX for calculations, performance optimisation, and business logic
- Good understanding of data quality, data validation, and reconciliation techniques across multiple source systems
- Strong ability to apply best-practice data visualisation design principles to present information clearly, consistently, and effectively (meaningfully)
- Ability to support, guide, and train business users, with a focus on usability and self-service BI adoption
