About the position
Our client is looking for an IT Support Specialist to assist the IT Manager. This position will concentrate on IT infrastructure and
security, as well as providing first level application support to users, providing technical support and
resolving helpdesk tickets for the Cape Town branch. On occasions you will need to assist with the Parow branch.

Minimum qualification and experience
- Bachelor's degree/Diploma in Computer Science (or 3-year tertiary qualification), Information
- Technology or MCSE, MCSA MCP
- ITIL (Advantage)
- Valid Driver’s license
- Clear Criminal Record
Experience:
- 5+ years’ experience working in each of the competencies required in a medium-sized business.
- Proven experience in providing end-user first and second-line IT support and troubleshooting.
Competencies required:
- Windows Server 2016 / to Current – Basic to medium.
- Windows Server Domain Controller Active Directory. Knowledge of the Microsoft Azure control center. Creating and controlling users in a hybrid AD environment. Basic to medium.
- Support MS Exchange Online Server - Current - Basic to medium.
- Azure MS365 administration Support - Current - Basic to medium.
- Teams and SharePoint - Basic to medium
- VMWare / Hyper V - Basic to medium
- Firewall management – Sophos firewall XGS and endpoint – Basic (advantage)
- Networking - Excellent understanding of Networking, Routing, and VLANs (Aruba)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in creating system process documentation and user guides.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Self-starter.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team.

CORE DUTIES:
- Ticketing System Oversight and Resolution.
- Efficiently manage and respond to IT issues reported through our central ticketing system.
- Ensure that all tickets are resolved under our Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
- Collaborative Teamwork: Work closely with the IT support team to develop strategies for effective issue resolution and system improvements.
- Monitor system performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement optimizations to enhance the efficiency and reliability of IT systems.
- System Maintenance and Upgrades: Regularly evaluate our IT infrastructure (Server hardware or software) for potential upgrades or enhancements.
- Microsoft 365, Exchange Online: Support of Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online.
- Responsibilities include configuring and maintaining SharePoint sites for effective collaboration and document management.
- Virtualization Technologies: Manage and optimize virtual environments, including virtual servers, desktops, and applications.
- Networking: Oversee and optimize the Cape Town CMG network infrastructure, ensuring reliable connectivity, performance, and security.
- This includes managing, creating, and upgrading network hardware, software, and configurations, troubleshooting network-related issues and the installation of network points.
- Application Support; Including but not limited to the ERP systems in use.
- First level support troubleshooting on Syspro/Translution as well as Curaquip and Microsoft office applications.
- Supporting the ERP system as well as user securities set up for these systems as they pertain to CMG branch users but not limited to. (ERP application training would be provided).
