A fast-growing specialist business consulting firm, focused on developing investor-ready business plans and financial strategies for growth-stage companies, is seeking a Junior Financial Manager to join them in Centurion.
As the Jnr Financial Manager, your responsibilities will initially include core accounting responsibilities, but the position will later develop into a more focused financial leadership role with the appointment of a dedicated Financial Accountant.
The key to succeeding in this role will be a strong grasp of accounting principles, preferably related to the finance and loan industry, leadership capability and the ability to take initiative.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Financial reporting – Monthly compilation and control of financial information regarding the company's operating activities. (Consisting of income statements, financial statements and cash flow statements.).
- Short-term financial planning – continuous involvement in the management and the updating of the annual operating projections, as well as the monitoring of the monthly budget performance against actual performance.
- Long-term financial planning – Assistance with the annual control and updating of the long-term financial strategy of the company.
- Budgets – Assistance with the preparation and consolidation of annual budgets.
- Capital management – Fixed asset register maintenance, as well as ongoing involvement in the management and updating of the annual capital expenditure needs in accordance with the cash available.
- Treasury Management – Daily monitoring of bank balances to ensure that cash is available to meet obligations in all areas of responsibility.
- Taxation – Correct accounting of VAT.
- Internal Audit and Risk Management – Management, review and improvement processes, working methods and management information to ensure proactive action, regular testing of compliance with internal control measures to ensure the accuracy of the financial records, as well as support and training to various internal interest groups.
- External Audit – Correspondence with external auditors regarding the planning and execution of the audit, followed by the management of audit report points and the introduction of corrective actions in this regard.
- Revenue Management – Reporting of occupancy to the resort's management team, as well as providing input around actions aimed at the resort's revenue goals.
- Management and development of the financial staff once appointed.
Accounting Duties: (Until appointment of Financial Accountant)
- Monthly/Daily billing to customers
- Capture and maintenance of all accounting records on Pastel
- Provide monthly statements to customers
- Compilation and issuing of 6 monthly tax reconciliation
- Ensure valid Tax Clearance Certificates at all times
- Ensure valid BEE Certificates at all times and manage BEE compliance audits
- Ensure statutory compliance for all 4 entities such as Letter of Good Standing, updating all vendor registrations on different platforms, CIPC annual returns, etc.
- Submit VAT, PAYE, IT, DIVIDEND TAX and PTAX returns, on e-filing, and IRP5's and EMP501 recons on Easyfile.
- Submit all salary and supplier payments on the online banking system for authorization by director
Desired Requirements, Experience & Qualification
- CA (SA)
- At least 1 year post-articles experience preferably in a financial services (finance and loan) environment
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
The salary bracket for the role is around R45k - R50k CTC p/m. Note that it is the client's prerogative, regardless of advertised package, to offer a market related salary considering the candidate's qualifications, skills, and level of experience.
