About the position
ENVIRONMENT:
A Tourism and Hospitality company providing luxury accommodation seeks a highly skilled & solutions-oriented IT Technician with strategic vision to join its team. You will provide proactive supervisory mechanisms for ensuring seamless operations of IT systems - strategic planning, implementation of systems and fulfilling expectations on Group EXCO level while ensuring service levels are delivered and maintained at highest possible priority and quality, resulting in efficiency and productivity throughout the group. The successful incumbent must have Grade 12/Matric, a Microsoft Certification or similar and preferably an IT/Computer Systems related tertiary qualification with 5 years’ experience in an IT Management role including extensive knowledge of complicated virtual systems, connectivity mechanisms and network security. You must be proficient with MS Office, MS SQL, Hosted Microsoft Exchange, Mimecast, VMware, Citrix, Sophos, Sage VIP, Pastel Partner and Evolution.
DUTIES:
- Assist staff in setting up their computers and necessary peripheral devices (routers, printers etc.).
- Assist staff in setting up IT systems and connecting them to the correct servers.
- Ensure all staff have cyber protection with virus protection software.
- Ensure IT systems are regularly updated.
- Set up and maintain Mikro’s system.
- Manage all staff emails and monitor for possible hacking threats.
- Ensure that guest Wi-Fi is working optimally.
- Assist in connecting room TVs to the internet server.
- Connect computers to printers/scanners.
- Ensure card machines are functional to receive payment.
- Ensure hotel room access cards can be programmed.
- Perform troubleshoots in the event when internet connection is lost.
- Ensure no pirated copies of computer programs are used.
- Write or customize computer software to accomplish the work.
- Ensure all security cameras are functional and that footage is stored securely.
- Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule.
- Repair or replace damaged hardware.
- Conduct daily backup operations.
- Provide technical support.
- Manage IT equipment in conference rooms.
- Ensure all speakers, the mouses, pointers, keyboards and remotes are connected correctly to computers.
- Maintain IT accessories and ensure that they are fully charged or batteries are replaced.
*You will be expected to be available telephonically at all times and always have access to read and respond to your emails.
REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications –
- Grade 12/Matric Certificate essential.
- Microsoft Certification or similar.
- Qualification in IT or computer systems not essential but preferred.
Experience/Skills –
- Minimum of 5 years in an IT Management role.
- MS Server and Desktop Operating Systems.
- MS Office, MS SQL, Hosted Microsoft Exchange and Mimecast.
- VMware and Citrix.
- Sage VIP, Pastel Partner and Evolution.
- Sophos Firewalls and Antivirus.
- Cloud-based Back-up Facility.
- Able to read, write and converse in English – Comprehension.
