Job Opportunity: IT Systems Monitoring Operator
Location: Cape Town (Office based)
Salary: R12 000 - R12 500 per month
Job Type: Contract
Are you a proactive individual with a passion for IT operations? We're looking for a detail-oriented IT Operator to join our team and play a key role in monitoring and alerting on critical systems and system batches. You'll be instrumental in documenting incidents accurately and ensuring timely resolutions to minimize disruptions across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for monitoring and alerting of critical systems and system batches. Your duties will include but are not limited to:
- Ensuring smooth operation of all IT Business Processes during your assigned shift within a 24/7 environment.
- Ensure that service levels are measured accurately as prescribed by Operational Level Agreements (OLAs) both internally, externally and security standards.
- Monitor and manage batch job suites, control system resource usage and perform first-line resolution on technical problems before informing relevant standby
- Reporting on Service Level Agreement (SLA) and Tier 1 violations accurately and timeously.
- Detect, analyse, and respond to alerts, events, and incidents in a within a timely manner.
- Execute standard operating procedures (SOPs) for system checks, backups, and scheduled tasks.
- Escalate issues to appropriate support teams based on predefined thresholds and guidelines.
- Provide real-time updates and notifications to internal stakeholders during critical incidents or outages.
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation of incidents, actions taken, and system status reports.
Working Hours
- Office based
- Rotational 12-hour shifts: 07h00 to 19h00 and 19h00 to 07h00
- 7-day shift cycle (Monday to Sunday) including public holidays and peak retail seasons.
- Schedule will follow a monthly shift roster.
Minimum Requirements
- South African ID - Required
- Matric (Grade 12) - Required
- IT Qualification - Required
- Clear criminal record - Required
- Knowledge of the ITIL framework - Advantageous
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in IT operations, systems monitoring, or technical support. - Preferred
- Experience with monitoring tools - Preferred
- Basic understanding of IT infrastructure components, including Windows/Linux servers, networking, and cloud environments. - Preferred
