About the position
Key objectives:
The key objective of the IT Systems Administrator is to ensure effective administration, maintenance, support, and continuous improvement of the company’s IT infrastructure, business systems, and network environment. The role is responsible for maintaining optimal system performance, minimising downtime, supporting end users across all sites, and ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of all hardware, software, servers, and ERP systems, including Syspro and related applications. The IT Systems Administrator will also provide technical support, manage system upgrades and user access, maintain cybersecurity and software compliance standards, and contribute to the continuous enhancement of business processes and IT operations.
Inherent job requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric / NQF level 4 essential
- 4 Year degree / NQF level 7
- Up to 3 years of experience in the IT environment

Job description:
Server Administration:
- Provide support and maintenance for all company servers, including Syspro, SQL, Qdocs, Translution, Active Directory, Hypnos, Zeno, File Servers, and Terminal Servers.
- Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting to ensure optimal server performance and minimal downtime.
- Ensure all servers and systems are updated with the latest patches, firmware updates, and antivirus protection.
- Monitor and maintain system backups, software licensing, and IT logbooks to ensure compliance and data integrity.
- Assist with disaster recovery and restore processes when required.
Syspro and related software support:
- Support and maintain Syspro ERP and related software applications across the business.
- Perform Syspro balancing functions, month-end, and year-end procedures.
- Develop and maintain reports, including SRS reports, ODBC reporting, and dashboards.
- Assist with upgrades and implementation of the latest Syspro versions and modules.
- Create and maintain user profiles, menus, and access permissions in line with company requirements.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve system functionality and business processes.
Hardware and device support:
- Provide technical support and diagnostics for desktops, laptops, tablets, thin clients, and printers.
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware and related software.
- Ensure all devices are updated with the latest patches, firmware, and antivirus protection.
- Set up users on the company domain and configure network printers and access.
- Ensure key user data backups are functioning correctly and can be restored when required.
Systems support and continuous improvement:
- Maintain and support all business-critical systems to ensure maximum uptime and operational efficiency.
- Monitor system performance and proactively address issues before they impact operations.
- Work collaboratively to improve system functionality and support the rollout of upgraded Syspro modules and related technologies.
- Ensure user requirements are met and provide ongoing recommendations for process and system improvements.
Remote and onsite technical support:
- Provide remote, telephonic, and onsite technical support to all company sites and users.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and printing issues efficiently and professionally.
- Escalate unresolved technical issues where necessary and ensure timely resolution.
User support and help desk:
- Provide first-line IT support and help desk assistance to all users across multiple sites.
- Create and maintain user accounts in Active Directory and related systems.
- Maintain current user profiles, permissions, and access controls.
- Support users with PC, software, email, network, and printer-related issues.
- Ensure antivirus updates and cybersecurity measures are implemented across all user devices.
- Assist with user training and guidance on company systems and software.
General IT administration and compliance:
- Maintain and enforce IT policies relating to cybersecurity, antivirus protection, software usage, and user access.
- Ensure all software installed on company devices is properly licensed and compliant.
- Maintain and manage the company software library and IT asset records.
- Configure and deploy new computers with Microsoft Office, Syspro, and all required business software.
- Maintain network and LAN settings on all PCs and laptops.
- Ensure all unauthorised, unlicensed, or non-business-related software is removed from company devices.
- Support overall IT governance, compliance, and best practices within the organisation.
